Species – 2014 to present

Skulls, Plaster, Resin, Paint, Callipers

Human skulls have often been used in art to illustrate impermanence, the vanity of earthly pursuits and the transient nature of life. The Memento Mori, from the Latin meaning ‘remember death,’ has been found in many traditions of art, represented by a human skull. While researching animal consciousness I created a large collection of human and non human bones. Species is a series of sculptures utilising a variety of skulls to explore ideas around awareness and human origins.
